Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis is a state of relaxation that the average individual reaches at least a couple of times a day. Light hypnosis is accomplished when one is absorbed in a TV program, experiencing re-petition (highway driving) or daydreaming for example.

The difference in Hypnotherapy is that it is Guided Relaxation where the ideas expressed (suggestions) generally are remembered more readily, which in turn creates a new awareness, an attitude shift about specific subjects (such as habits and stress). The only requirements for getting results in using the power of the subconscious mind are that the person consciously wants to change.

Common benefits reported with hypnotherapy are stress reduction/management, smoking cessation, weight loss, anxiety reduction/elimination, pain management and many more.

Important Facts:

Anyone can be hypnotized. Once an individual overcomes their apprehension, though understanding of hypnosis, it is an easy experience, one in which the subject will awaken feeling more relaxed, at ease and at peace, than before going into hypnosis.

Most people do not recognize the state of hypnosis. They expect to become unconscious. This is not at all what the experience is like. The chances are you will remain aware of everything going on around you. This does not mean you are not hypnotized, it simply means you are experiencing a hypnotic level somewhere between light and medium trance. It is different for everyone. Normally, as you are conditioned you continue to go a little deeper each time. Eventually, your natural level is attained.

You will be instructed to remember everything that you experience in hypnosis. Remember, the subconscious programs us. It does not reason, but it does work to create the reality according to the suggestions it is fed. By being instructed to remember, you transfer experience to the conscious mind.

Common Misperceptions:

Directly proposed hypnotic suggestions cannot make you do anything against your morals, religion, or self-preservation. If such a suggestion were given, you would either refuse to comply or would wake up. The ego cannot be detached under hypnosis, so secrets will not come out while in a trance, and you would not do anything you would not normally do if you felt relaxed about the situation.

The best hypnotic subjects are not unintelligent people. The more strong-willed, intelligent, and imaginative an individual is, the better subject he usually is.
